2023 Snowshoe Experience
BY CARMEN FRENCH, BOARD OF DIRECTORS
What an amazing opportunity we had to traverse the snow this year with our outdoor snowshoeing adventures!
Our January trek was to the Whoop ‘Em Up trail just beyond Idaho City. The snowy morning ended up being a beautiful day with blue skies and great views. The trail was great for adventure, accomplishment and connection. Our sponsors, McCue Sports and Albertson’s, made it a wonderful day with equipment and food. Of course, the dip in the The Springs at Idaho City hot springs afterward allowed all participants to soak and relax. All who came enjoyed a few hours of rejuvenation and connection in the beautiful outdoors of Idaho!
Our second adventure at Bogus Basin was a challenge against the wind, but pressing forward we snow-shoed our way up a winding path and back down again. The views were stunning and clear (the wind was good for that this day!). Quite the view all around! We made new friends, shared stories, and shared space where we were reminded that we are not alone in this cancer journey. We proved to ourselves today that we can do hard things together.
It’s adventures like these that give survivors and co-survivors a refueling to the body and spirit, a moment to breathe deeply and recharge. A big thank you to our sponsors, our contributors and our survivors! We do this because of you.
